Lynda's Story
Lynda began taking Pilates lessons in 1997 in Lake Arrowhead, California after having torn both of her rotator cuffs. She owned and operated two retail stores which required physical strength and endurance, but was in constant pain from her shoulder injuries. One of her dear friends had just opened a Pilates studio and Lynda was talked into trying it by her dear friend's little brother who worked in one of her stores. She immediately became captivated by this form of exercise and over time both of her shoulders healed properly and the surrounding tissue became sturdy enough to prevent having surgery and the pain was gone. She continued practicing Pilates until moving to Maui in 2001 and purchased a cheap reformer to carry on what she had learned. She soon discovered that without instruction and using a substandard piece of equipment, it just wasn't the same.
In 2006 she met a gal who was looking to start a Pilates studio in Maui who was trained in Classical Method Pilates. Lynda jumped at the chance to start again and within a few months decided she wanted to become a Classical Method Pilates teacher. She fulfilled the required criteria and was accepted into the apprentice program at Metropolitan Pilates in Seattle, and left her beloved home of Maui to move to Seattle to be trained as a teacher by the world's best teacher trainer Dorothee VandeWalle.
She has since operated two of her own, fully Gratz equipped, Pilates studios in Seattle, and then moved to Southern California and opened Yucca Valley's first and only Classical Method Pilates studio in 2015 and has enjoyed teaching local residents and visitors to the area ever since.
And her devotion to Joseph Pilates method remains.
